DJ China

DJ China’s passion for mixing started in the late 90’s when he first became friends with DJ’s Mbuso and Claude, who were already well on their way to DJ stardom. Their influence, combined with the likes of names like Christos and Iggy Smalls inspired China to start his own DJ career in ‘99’.

In 2002 China decided that spinning records was to be his future and for the next 3 years he spent at least 4 hours a day mastering his art behind the decks !

In 2009 saw the birth of the brand name in house music circle namely”Deep inside”which is a brainchild by the man himself where he was looking to start a new series of mixed compilations for the next 3yrs to come. Needless to say that Vol.1 received exceptionally well in the market which guaranteed China a firm and loyal followers of his distinctive sound within the ever competitive market .

Deep inside brand name opened international doors for china which saw him feature amongst the chosen few to represent SA house music scene in march 2012 during the Miami winter music conference amongst other big names such as  Vinny da Vinci, Fistaz, Christos, Black Coffee, Culoe and many more..

His 1st artist album which was due Easter 2013, keep a lookout on the”black chinesse dj”he sure is gonna deliver, as this one of the most anticipated albums in 2013.

DJ Ganyani

Ganyani Tshabalala has been in the music industry for over 20 years. With his great passion for music, at the age of 15 he started teaching himself several

DJ techniques to manipulate the pre-recorded music. These include cueing, equalization, phrasing, beat juggling etc. to perform the transitions and

overdubs of a number of sources in a more creative way.

Today he is a professional DJ who masters the technique of using harmonic mixing for choosing compatible songs. This has made him and other local

DJs to be the pioneers or the grandmaster of this entertainment technique in the country.

To date he has achieved the following milestones: ·

Becoming a household name amongst the youth in South Africa and the SADC region particularly in Lesotho, Swaziland and Botswana. ·

He is a DJ of choice for Orlando Pirates FC and the South African Football

Association. ·

Stage name Dj Stigga, born in Carletonville and currently resides in Johannesburg.

The name dj stigga came about during his football days where his friends felt his soccer skill reminded them of stanton "stiga" fredericks – former chiefs player. His inspiration for music was after he bought a compilation by dj fresh, fresh house flava volume 3 in 1999.

From that time he started collecting house music cassettes and cds. 2004 he started playing on vinyls, lessons were conducted by mokete "kido" one of his friends who is no longer a deejay. His first vinyl was by Jimpster which he bought at House Afrika records.

Dj Stigga's favourite genre of music is deep/soulful house. He released an album "no walls just house" in 2013 together with lady PK. The album was recorded by do it now recordings and a 12 tracks local album featuring hits by Mr Deep, odd experience and more.

He played alongside Vinny da Vinci, 2lani "the warrior", Miggs, Ganyani, Ralf Gum, Positive k, Christos and more. Dj stigga's favourite artists are Vick Lavender and Spinna and djs: Miggs, Vinny da Vinci and himself.

Dj Claude

Dj Thobs

Dj Claude, Born and bred in Soweto. He started dabbling with records in the early 90’s, 1995 to be exact. As per many dj’s back in the days his career was influenced by the legendary Dj Mbuso who taught him the ropes of deejaying.

Having grown up in a musical family, his dad was a jazz musician, this helped Claude craft his deejaying skills a lot easier because he had a lifelong relationship and passion for music.

In the year 2000 Claude joined Sugartrax which had been bought by Dj Mbuso and Harael Salkow which later changed into what is now known as the biggest House Music brand in the Southern Africa, Soulcandi.

In 2002 he released his first compilation titled Stereo Candi 1 which did very well. He then followed up with the second volume on the following year which proved to be the one that opened many doors for him. It allowed him to play with many great names and to carve his name in the South African music industry. It offered him the opportunity to start playing at the then legendary 115,Taboo,H2o,House22,Spring Fiesta and the Rock in Soweto alongside great dj’s such as BlackCoffee,Vinny Da Vinci, Soul2Soul, Charles Webster, Atjazz,The Layabouts,Vick Lavender and Ralf Gum to name a few.

It wasn’t a surprise when Stereo Candi got nominated for the best compilation category at the Metro FM awards because of his precision with picking out the smoothest and hottest tracks at the time. After a good spell at Soulcandi, Claude left the Candi team to go and join Mbuso at his new label Phezulu records where he began a new series called musicology which also did very well.

After this spell Claude then decided to join Sheer music where he was a label assistant which opened new avenues for him to access music and to get better at his craft.  After mastering this craft he then decided to leave sheer in 2009 to take a break from the music scene for the entire year.

The time off gave him a new scope of where he wanted to take and align his career going forward.

After a well-deserved recess, he then went back to well it all started at Soulcandi records and released Stereo Candi 4 which was shortlisted for a metro FM award and the following year Stereo Candi 5 nominated for the Metro FM awards in the top 5 category.

This is how we got to this moment in time, Stereo Candi 6 which will be the very last compilation from in the series for the Legendary Dj. He has now decided to jump into production with an outlook of releasing music in the near future…

Fast forward to 2013 which saw Claude doing a collaboration with Chymamusique and come up with a club banger called ‘World is Good’ Feat Rona Rey, a super talented vocalist from Germany.

Since then to date Claude has been travelling to difference provinces and doing what he loves the most which is sharing his love music with the people. A collector of both locally and international house music. A lover of seeing people enjoying themselves on the dance floor.

Thobs is one of the country’s premier female DJs. This spin sister caught the house music bug in 1994 but only got her introduction to pitch-bending and beat-blending world of turntables in March 2001. It didn’t take her long to make an impression though, and not long after she started stringing deep sets together she caught the attention of radio show host (and club groove guru) Glen Lewis, who heard a demo of hers on air and immediately recruited her to join his stable of female DJs at Skeelo & Pebbles.

This led to a defining moment in her career: the release of a mix CD for the Skeelo & Pebbles empire. The year was 2004; the name of the CD was SABC 1’s ‘Sgubhu sa Mampela Vol.2’; the impression it left on South Africa’s listening and dancing public was as deep as the tracks it contained.

Subsequently Thobs has become one of the most in-demand and regularly-booked DJs of either sex in the country. She’s played in hot spots across SA and abroad, and in 2006 she became the first female DJ to perform for VIPs at the J&B Met in Cape Town – a highly regarded gig. Additionally she’s become the DJ of choice at the exclusive events thrown by British American Tobacco, including Dunhill’s 100-year anniversary celebration.

Her profile got a further boost when she was invited to mix one of the discs on the platinum monster-selling ‘House Afrika Sessions’ CD, which showcased the startling rhythmic talents on the Bass Breaks & Beats label. And it’s under the auspices of this label that she released her debut artist album called “Colors of Soul”.

Thobs versatility is what makes her a Dj of choice for any event.  She plays music ranging from lounge, nu jazz, neo soul, funk, soulful, derep and tech house.  Being able to play the right groove for any party and getting te crowd going is what Thobs loves doing.

Currently, Thobs is back in the studio, cooking up a storm with various S.A's up and coming talented producers.
